Qualidigm, the mission-driven, national healthcare consulting think tank based in Wethersfield, Conn., and Maine Quality Counts, a regional health improvement company located in Manchester, Maine, are pleased to announce the official merger of the two organizations, effective January 1, 2019. Previously, the two companies announced an intent-to-merge in June 2018 with a stated completion date of August 1, 2019. As part of each company’s respective governance process, the Maine Quality Counts board ratified the merger agreement on November 7 and the Qualidigm board ratified the final version at its Annual Meeting on December 12. As a result of each board’s decision, the merger will be completed seven months ahead of schedule and will expand dramatically each organization’s presence across New England to create a leading healthcare consulting company dedicated to quality improvement services.
With over 50 years of combined experience, the synergy between Maine Quality Counts and Qualidigm provides the capacity to lead and deliver comprehensive, cost-effective, coordinated healthcare quality improvement services across New England and the country through one unified organization. Qualidigm President and CEO, Dr. Timothy Elwell, will assume leadership for the combined entity effective January 1, 2019.
“We are pleased to welcome Maine Quality Counts to the Qualidigm family,” said Dr. Elwell. “The talent of our overall organization is deep and experienced in quality improvement science and learning and diffusion techniques. Our expertise spans across all healthcare delivery domains including hospitals, physician practices, home health, long-term care, and hospice. We are in the process of fully integrating both organization’s services enabling Qualidigm to draw from a more comprehensive suite of services, while continuing to commit to our mission of improving the quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness of healthcare through transformational change. As a result of the merger with Maine Quality Counts, and combining our offices in New Hampshire and Vermont, we now offer unparalleled expertise in the delivery of rural health services throughout New England to improve access to quality healthcare to all patients. The future for our company is bright and our talent pool is deep. I am excited for Qualidigm’s future in delivering healthcare innovations to all citizens and healthcare providers in New England and leading rural health development in Maine and throughout all New England,” said Dr. Elwell.
Currently, Qualidigm leads several local, regional and national healthcare quality improvement programs, and serves as a partner on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Quality Innovation Network-Quality Improvement Organization (QIN-QIO) contract in New England. Maine Quality Counts leads the Northern New England Practice Transformation Network and many other initiatives in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont, including programs that address the opioid epidemic and enhance child health care.
